a tripod and a remote are a must! also take several of each spot. Some of mine didn't work so do several and also double check that it's in good focus. If your doing digital, check in the privew too. good luck. You'll have fun. :D

Yes, to keep it from shaking. Even if you use a tripod but you hold the button with you finger, and you move at all, the picture will not work. I know form experiance. Especially when it's cold out. :) A remote or shutter release cord is the best (and in my opnion, the only) way to go.

I don't know what it is but standing on the East side, just below the mountains so you overlook into the valley and beyond - even on the coldest nights, the sprawl of lights invokes warmth.

I never tire of that sight..
